Project Commissioning and TAB Agent

Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, is seeking to add a Project Commissioning and TAB Agent to our firm.  This position is full-time.

 

The Project Commissioning Agent will have Test, Adjust, and Balance (TAB) with a primary focus on HVAC systems. Will work with team to perform facility condition assessments on HVAC systems, and performs ASHRAE level energy audits

 

The minimum required qualifications for this position are shown below:

  • 10+ years of performing TAB in conjunction with HVAC systems
  • 5+ years as a commissioning agent
  • Demonstrates experience and expertise in complex mechanical facility systems
  • Solid understanding of various building automation system (BAS) controls
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, NEBB, etc. procedures and protocols
  • Experience with design calculations and modeling software
  • TAB authority certified
  • Utilizes the following software to complete tasks accurately and on-time: Microsoft Word, Excel, Projects, Power Point, Outlook, BlueBeam, Sharefile systems

 

In addition to the required qualifications the following skills are preferable:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree
  • Certified through one of the recognized commissioning authorities is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

General Responsibilities are:

  • Perform TAB work on HVAC systems
  • Fulfill facility ASHRAE level 1 & 2 energy audits focusing on HVAC equipment and system performance
  • Review design criteria: drawings, specs, etc. with Q/C mindset, from commissioning and operator’s perspective, equipment warrantees and O&M manuals: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, controls, ect.
  • Provide recommendations for optimizing building operations and addressing deficiencies
  • Assist in development of commissioning plans and specs
  • Perform site visits and record issues identified
  • Write and compile comprehensive commissioning reports
  • Develop and administer pre-functional and functional tests of MEP systems, fire alarm and control systems plus much more
  • Schedule and direct periodic commissioning meetings
  • Attend construction and coordination meetings
  • Mentor other commissioning agents and design engineer
  • Interact with clients, customers, officials, and contractors
  • 10-30% of travel time may be required

 

 Specialized Skills or Functions:

  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities and in the development of technical and fee estimate proposal responses
  • Provide staff training
