Structural Engineer

Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, is seeking to add a Structural Engineer to our firm.  This position is full-time.


The ideal Structural Engineer will have a good understanding of code and environmental criteria and client requirements to ensure specifications and designs meet project goals.


The minimum required qualifications for this position are shown below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, SE focused preferred
  • PE License, Oregon PE or SE preferred
  • 5 years minimum in related experience
  • Knowledgeable in Revit
  • Knowledgeable in Risa 3D and Tedd’s analysis software
  • Ability to prepare and review standard engineering documentation and plans
  • Experience in a client-facing role (including business development and client management)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


General Responsibilities are:

  • Independently apply standard engineering practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusting and correlating data, performing calculations, and recognizing discrepancies in results.
  • Review plans, specifications and schematics to determine the preferred way to build new projects and repair existing infrastructure systems.
  • Participate in initial planning and bidding processes, including reviewing environmental factors, government regulations, constructions costs and risk analysis reports to prepare comprehensive study on all relevant design factors.
  • Implement design software to plan and design different systems and structures in line with overall standards.
  • Requires periodic project site visits to review existing structures and confirm construction progress.
  • Develop long term relationships with key clients.
  •  5-10% travel time may be required.
