Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, is seeking to add an Electrician to join our consulting team.

The Electrician will apply the principles of electricity, power generation, electrical distribution, lighting, and sustainable power generation to assess and design systems working directly with other team members of Akana to meet our client’s project requirements. Our focus on good client service requires excellent communication, attention to detail and cooperative teamwork.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides hand-on physical assessments of building electrical systems and equipment.
  • Conduct ASHRAE Level I and 2 Energy Audits and provides recommended energy conservation measure for electrical equipment and systems.
  • Review both electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications for constructability and energy efficiency.
  • Perform commissioning site visits on all types of buildings and power distribution systems, including, substations, switchgear, switchboards, and power generating equipment: Witness third party start-ups and testing of system components.
  • Facilitate functional performance testing of electrical and mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Assist in performing electrical engineering, schematic through final designs.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Low and medium voltage experience required. Controls experience desired.
  • Knowledge of motors and power generation.
  • Lighting design experience is a plus.
  • Experience with sustainable power generation systems and controls desired.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience
  • Competent in the use of electrical calculation software preferred
  • Able to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
