Port Mann Bridge Project

Port Mann Bridge Project

Akana construction specialists are providing independent quality audit services associated with oversight of design and construction of the bridge portion of the design-build project that involves constructing a twin bridge adjacent to the existing Port Mann Bridge and widening 37 kilometers of the TransCanada Highway 1 through metropolitan Vancouver, including upgrading interchanges and improving highway safety.

Multiple high use rail crossings, extensive utility relocation, and environmental mitigation were some of the key considerations in design and construction.  Staged construction commenced in mid-2009 with pile driving and foundation for the new bridge, and the first phase of construction was completed in 2012. During the next phase of construction, the old bridge will be dropped and the north approach to the new bridge completed.
