US Chemical Agent Stockpile Incineration Program Concludes

In January, 2015 the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued a letter terminating the hazardous waste permit for the Umatilla Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (UMCDF).

This major milestone marks the end of Akana’s involvement in the US Army’s Chemical Agent Stockpile Incineration Program.  For over 20 years, Akana staff have been supporting the program providing Independent Qualified Registered Professional Engineer (IQRPE) services.  IQRPE work included  certification of incinerator construction, chemical stockpile destruction and decontamination/demolition (D&D) of the incineration systems.  In addition to the work we did at the UMCDF, Akana staff also provided IQRPE services at Johnston Atoll Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (JACADS), Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility (TOCDF), the Chemical Agent Munitions Disposal System (CAMDS), Pine Bluff Arsenal, and the Anniston Army Depot.
