Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, is seeking to add an Electrical Engineer to join our team to perform energy audits, commissioning, and electrical design services.
The Electrical Engineer will apply the principles of electricity, power generation, electrical distribution, lighting, and sustainable power generation to assess and design systems working directly with other team members of Akana to meet our client’s project requirements. Our focus on good client service requires excellent communication, attention to details and cooperative teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Provide full electrical engineering and design services from conceptual to issue for construction.
- Provide assistance and design clarification responses during the construction implementation of designs generated by Akana.
- Provides hand-on physical assessments of building electrical systems and equipment.
- Conduct ASHRAE Level I, 2, and 3 Energy Audits and provides recommended energy conservation measure for electrical equipment and systems.
- Review both electrical and mechanical drawing and specifications for constructability and energy efficiency.
- Perform the commissioning process as part of a team or independently to include site visits on all types of buildings and power distribution systems, electrical substations, switchgear, switchboards, and power generating equipment. Witness third party start-ups and testing of system components.
- Facilitate commissioning functional performance testing of electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
- Assist or perform electrical engineering, schematic through final designs.
Required Qualifications:
- EIT preferred. Professional Engineer Registrations is preferred
- Electrical building or utility power distribution and lighting experience
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience
- Demonstrated CAD and 3D skills, Revit or MicroStation a plus
- Competent in the use of electrical engineering software, arcflash software is a plus
- Able to problem solve and troubleshoot as the need arises
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Low and medium voltage experience preferred. Controls experience desired.
- Knowledge of motors and power generation.
- Lighting design experience a plus.

The salary range for this position is based on education, experience, and location. Range: 80K to 125K
