Environmental Scientist / Geologist II - Portland, OR
Are you ready to take your career to the next level with a forward-thinking, Native American-owned multi-disciplinary consulting firm? Akana is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist/Geologist II to join our dynamic team! This position is full-time at our Portland, OR headquarters.

What You’ll Do:
- Perform computer-based research of site history and geologic conditions
- Help draft and organize work plans
- Prepare health and safety plans
- Conduct sampling (soil, sediment, rock, groundwater, soil gas, and ambient air)
- Oversee subcontractors to accomplish field activities
- Monitor worksite for safe working conditions; report unsafe conditions
- Prepare and maintain documentation on field activities and observations
- Prepare site maps, cross-sectional diagrams, and other report elements based on fieldwork and/or laboratory results
- Contribute to preparation of investigation reports
- Obtain and keep current 40-hour HAZWOPER training

Minimum Required Key Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in environmental investigations and cleanup projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, or a related field.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Adept at performing work with accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask while ensuring accuracy and timely completion of work
- Possess a proactive approach to overcoming obstacles with creativity and adaptability
Akana will provide HAZWOPER training if not already certified. There will be limited out-of-town travel throughout the year.
This position will require in-office presence at the Akana office in Milwaukie, Oregon – just off Highway 224 with ample free parking.
