Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, is seeking to add a Staff Grant Writer to our firm. This position is full time
As a Staff Grant Writer you will be a professional who works to secure funding for various Native American Tribal programs and projects.
The minimum required qualifications for this position are shown below:
- High School Diploma required; college degree in a broad range of humanities, liberal arts, general or technical sciences is strongly preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience with researching grants and completing grant applications, preferably for Native American tribes.
- Clear and persuasive technical writing and editing skills.
- Open, diligent, responsive, and personable communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Adept and comfortable learning new computer software used in our industry.
- Organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a sometimes fast-paced work environment.
General Responsibilities are:
- Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
- Develop review summaries of new grant opportunities.
- Complete competitive grant proposals in a team environment based on the requirements of the funding organization.
- Take on the primary responsibility to check for grant application accuracy and completeness against grant instructions, spelling, grammar, and style.
- Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and clients.
- Other grant funding research and writing tasks, as may be assigned.
