Senior Energy Auditor - Hybrid

Akana is seeking an experienced Senior Energy Auditor to join our dynamic team! This position is considered full-time; in office days and travel may be required and requested.

The Energy Auditor will conduct comprehensive energy audits for commercial, residential, and industrial facilities, identifying opportunities for energy efficiency and recommending actionable improvements. This role requires strong analytical, technical, and communication skills to develop and implement effective energy-saving strategies.
Auditors generally work in a variety of locations and conditions.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform detailed ASHRAE Level I, II, and III energy audits, assessing current energy usage and systems efficiency.
- Analyze utility bills, operational patterns, and mechanical/electrical systems.
- Support the preparation of detailed energy reports, including LCCA and ROI analyses
- Experience using diagnostic equipment (infrared cameras, data loggers, blower doors) to assess building performance is desired
- Identify energy-saving opportunities and create clear, detailed audit reports.
- Develop cost-benefit analyses and calculate ROI for energy efficiency improvements.
- Develop life-cycle-cost-analysis
- Recommend energy conservation measures (ECMs), renewable energy solutions, and sustainable practices.
Other Duties May Include:
- Perform facility and system commissioning activities.
- Assist in development of energy audit fee proposals.
- Perform project management of energy audit related projects.
- Assist or lead in design solutions to ECMs.

Minimum Required Key Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s in mechanical, electrical, or energy systems engineering, environmental science, or equivalent field experience is highly desired; PE / advanced degree is a plus.
- CEM, EMP, CEA, CMVP, and professional commissioning credentials desired.
- Minimum 8 years of experience conducting energy audits.
- Experience in building energy modeling is desired.
- Extensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, lighting, and renewable technologies
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Eligibility to work on federal facilities and pass background checks required.
