Akana, a Native American-owned multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, is seeking to add a Structural Group Manager to our firm.
The purpose of this position is to manage the structural engineering services and structural staffing for the firm. The Structural Group Manager works closely with project technical lead structural engineers to execute structural engineering projects.
Qualifications:
The minimum required qualifications for this position are shown below:
- BS degree in engineering, MS preferred
- Proven experience as a structural engineering group manager or role with minimum of 15 years of structural engineering design experience.
- Ability to manage and mentor staff, and take action as appropriate
- Thorough knowledge of structural engineering design methodologies and standards
- Experience in design of structures and evaluation of existing structures in high seismic regions (Seismic Category D and above)
- Knowledge of ASCE, IBC, OSSC, ACI, AISC, NDS, AISI, TMS, DOD, DOE, and other structural engineering standards as appropriate
- Professional Engineer license, SE obtained within 6 months
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
- Solid written and verbal communication skill
- Reliable and Trustworthy
In addition to the required qualifications the following Software skills are preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite software, and Bluebeam
- Understanding of Autocad and Revit software
- Proficiency in RISA 3-D, SAP2000 or comparable structural analysis/finite element analysis software
- Proficiency with Tekla Tedds, Enercalc or similar structural design software
General Responsibilities are:
- Prepares structural group annual budget and activities including software/resource needs, group staff training plans, professional development activities, and team bonding.
- Sets structural group workload priorities and coordinates staffing with other managers.
- Manages structural group utilization and identifies additional resource needs.
- Provides mentoring to structural engineering staff.
- Develops structural engineering design standards, templates, and procedures with oversight from the Design Services VP and in coordination with the BIM Manager.
- Devises processes and procedures to improve structural engineering group efficiency and profitability.
- Oversees QA/QC for the structural group and assures the reliability and consistency of production
- Supports Human Resources with recruiting efforts
- Appraises customers’ requirements
- Interacts with clients, customers, officials, and contractors.
- Maintains licensure in jurisdictions as directed by company.
- 10-20% travel time may be required, including routine in-person meetings
The salary for this position ranges from 120-145K. We are competitive and based on Experience, Education, Licensure or PE, and Location.
