Technical Editor

Akana, a Native American-owned, multi-discipline consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and projects throughout the United States, is seeking a Technical Editor. 

This position is part-time with the potential to turn into full-time work and is considered a hybrid position, where some in-office or travel may be requested or required.

The minimum required qualifications for this position are shown below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or another communications-related field, or in a technical field (for example, engineering or science) with extensive additional writing and editing training
  • Minimum 10 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Experience preparing engineering or scientific documents preferred

General Responsibilities are:

  • Maintain and complete routine updates of the Akana Style Guide collaboratively with the Corporate Quality Manager, Chief Operations Officer, and Division Vice Presidents
  • Assist the Corporate Quality Manager in evaluating quality program metrics and key performance indicators related to quality control reviews of written deliverables
  • Provide routine training to Akana staff on specific aspects of the Akana Style Guide and technical writing good practices
  • Copyedit documents, including proposals, technical reports, resumes, policies, and other internal and external business material, as requested, to produce high-quality, professional communications
  • Proofread documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting
  • Streamline deliverable processes for authors and technical editors by developing templates that are easy to adapt and apply
  • Write, edit, or revise supporting content for written products and material prepared by other authors
  • Manage and continuously improve the consistency of technical content and its use across all groups and divisions

The salary for this position is competitive and based on experience, location and education. Range $75K – 100K.
