ProjectS
Arc Flash Hazard Analysis – Hanford Site
Project Details
Akana, in partnership with VNSFS, served as the prime consultant for an Arc Flash Hazard Analysis across multiple facilities at the Hanford Site. These buildings, originally designed for industrial uses such as laundry and vehicle maintenance, were later converted to office spaces when the site transitioned from nuclear material production to environmental cleanup. While the electrical systems were adapted for lower voltage requirements, the original high-voltage infrastructure remained in place, creating potential safety concerns.
Our team conducted a comprehensive evaluation of arc-flash hazards associated with these legacy electrical systems. The analysis included detailed assessments of each assigned building to identify risks stemming from the existing high-voltage service. Based on our findings, Akana and VNSFS developed recommendations and designed new electrical systems to mitigate identified hazards, ensuring compliance with safety standards and improving overall facility reliability.
