Tara Burnham brings more than 16 years of experience in project management, contract administration, and environmental health and safety (EHS) for civil and industrial infrastructure projects. She has led efforts across federal, state, municipal, and private sectors, with deep expertise in Federal Aid and Local Agency Guidelines (LAG) Manual requirements.
Tara has successfully navigated complex project delivery environments, coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, and labor unions while ensuring alignment with union agreements and contractual obligations. Her familiarity with large-scale construction operations makes her an invaluable resource for both compliance and field coordination.
As Akana’s Environmental Safety and Health Coordinator, Tara leads the development and implementation of EHS programs and policies. It is a company-wide EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) program designed to protect employees, the environment, and the company’s reputation by addressing environmental, health, and safety risks. It encompasses policies, procedures, training, and ongoing efforts to minimize harm and ensure regulatory compliance. Her responsibilities include:
- Conducting job hazard analyses and reviewing health and safety plans
- Training new and existing employees on company-wide EHS procedures
- Expanding and auditing internal safety programs
- Procuring and deploying safety equipment across project sites
- Maintaining regulatory compliance and reporting standards
