BIA Nationwide Office of Judicial Services Site Assessments

Project Details

Akana led a nationwide facility assessment program for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Department of Facility Maintenance and Construction, focusing on properties owned by BIA and the Office of Judicial Services (OJS). The program encompasses a wide range of facilities across the United States, including administrative offices, housing units, and detention centers, and is designed to inform future renovation and replacement strategies.

To deliver this effort, Akana assembled and managed a multi-disciplinary, multi-firm team responsible for field assessments, scheduling, site access coordination, contract compliance, data reduction, and preparation of final summary reports for each location. The evaluations provide critical input for determining whether Design-Build or Design-Bid-Build processes will be employed for renovations, additions, demolitions, or full facility replacements. Under the Single Award Task Order Contract (SATOC), Akana has completed assessments of OJS facilities in Lame Deer, Montana, and Fort Washakie, Wyoming, supporting BIA’s mission to maintain safe, functional, and compliant facilities nationwide.
