Dieringer Dairy Hazardous Waste Removal Action

Project Details

Akana supported ACTenviro and the Bureau of Reclamation in remediation efforts at the 103-acre Dieringer Dairy property adjacent to Crab Creek. The site is projected to experience significant increases in ground and surface water due to the Potholes Supplemental Feed Route (PSFR), making its current use as a dairy farm unsustainable and requiring environmental cleanup.

Akana managed permitting and research to enable ACTenviro’s large-scale removal of manure-impacted soil and pond sediments, estimated at 25,000 tons. The team prepared a feasibility study, cleanup action plan, and sampling and analysis plan for approval by the Bureau and the Washington Department of Ecology under MTCA regulations. Akana also completed a wetland delineation and developed a stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) to protect sensitive areas during grading and waste removal. Following confirmation sampling, Akana is finalizing the close-out report for submission to Ecology, supporting a non-further action determination.
