REPA 6 Program Zone 2 – Regions 4, 5, 9 – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
Project Details
Under a REPA 6 Zone 2 subcontract to Mabbett and Associates, Akana provided support to EPA Regions 4, 5, 9, and Headquarters for 15 active task orders. Services included technical reviews of permitting and corrective action documents, technical analysis and document preparation, field oversight and sampling, development and delivery of technical training, public outreach support, and creation of guidance and compliance tools for EPA Special Initiatives. These initiatives included revisions to standards for open burning/open detonation of waste explosives and EPA’s National RCRA Permitting Priorities.
Akana’s technical reviews addressed combustion permitting documents for incinerators, cement kilns, industrial boilers, and miscellaneous treatment units. Reviews included permit applications, trial burn plans and reports, risk assessment protocols, air modeling plans, sampling and analysis plans, quality assurance project plans, and alternative technology evaluations.
Additional support included corrective action document reviews, such as sediment toxicity evaluations and assessments of barrier wall structural integrity for coal combustion residual (CCR) impoundments.
