Sound Transit East Link Extension

Akana is providing construction management services for the I-90 Corridor Segment of Sound Transit’s East Link Extension, a 14-mile light rail project connecting downtown Seattle to the Microsoft Redmond Campus and serving key Eastside communities, including Mercer Island and Bellevue. This segment represents a landmark achievement as the nation’s first major conversion of an interstate expressway into a light rail route, improving regional mobility and sustainability.

As Construction Manager, Akana oversees coordination among Sound Transit, WSDOT, design-build contractors, and municipal stakeholders to ensure construction meets safety, environmental, schedule, and budget requirements. Akana’s responsibilities include monitoring compliance, facilitating stakeholder communication, and resolving issues to maintain progress on this complex infrastructure project.
