Red Purple Modernization Phase One Project – Chicago Transit Authority

As part of the CTA Owner’s Representative team, Akana supported the $2.1 billion, five-year design-build modernization of Chicago’s busiest rapid transit corridor. This transformative project included reconstruction of a 1.5-mile elevated track structure at a critical intersection serving three transit lines on the city’s north side.

Akana’s role focused on comprehensive monitoring and inspection of civil infrastructure, including drilled shafts, columns, and elevated closed-deck structures. The team also conducted offsite inspections of major system components such as traction power cables and control housings and oversaw precast segment fabrication and erection. Additional responsibilities included auditing contractor documentation, reviewing procurement and field-testing records, and participating in final punch list inspections and project closeout activities.
