Operator’s Building – MAX Red Line Extension, TriMet

As part of the MAX Red Line extension and refurbishment, Akana partnered with Parametrix to deliver architectural, structural, and civil site design for a new 700-square-foot Operator’s Building at the Fair Complex Station. This project supports TriMet’s efforts to enhance operational efficiency and improve facilities for transit personnel.

Akana’s scope included comprehensive architectural and structural design, site surveying, and preparation of demolition and grading plans. The team also designed new water, sewer, and stormwater systems, along with mechanical and electrical components. Key features of the building include an operator’s break room and a dedicated pathway to the pocket track personnel crossing, ensuring safe and convenient access for staff.

The exterior design aligns with the architectural character of the Fair Complex facility, meeting local jurisdiction requirements. Through close collaboration and technical precision, Akana delivered a solution that integrates seamlessly with the station’s existing infrastructure while supporting TriMet’s long-term operational goals.
