Firewatch Lookout and Cellular Tower

Project Details

Akana supported the Warm Springs Tribes Telecommunications Enterprise (WSTC) in advancing broadband infrastructure and expanding service coverage across tribal lands, which are considered underserved areas for high-speed internet access. This initiative aimed to close the digital divide and provide reliable connectivity to the Warm Springs community.

As part of the effort, Akana coordinated the development and submission of a competitive proposal to the USDA Rural Development Broadband ReConnect Program. The application included comprehensive technical design elements, service area mapping, environmental review documentation, and detailed financial planning, including budgets and pro forma projections for the proposed service areas.

Through strategic planning and collaboration, Akana helped position WSTC for success in obtaining critical funding to enhance broadband access. This project reflects a commitment to improving telecommunications infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to technology for underserved tribal communities.
