Pyramid Lake Site Development and Housing

Akana is providing architecture and engineering design and construction administration services for multiple residential subdivisions on the Pyramid Lake Paiute Reservation northeast of Reno, Nevada. One subdivision includes affordable single-family duplex homes on half-acre parcels, with units ranging from two to five bedrooms.

Site design emphasizes safe pedestrian circulation, passive traffic-calming measures, and walking and bicycle paths to connect residents. Multiple green spaces are incorporated to support community gathering and play areas for children while serving as natural stormwater detention and retention facilities. On-site drainfield systems manage sanitary sewer, and the existing Tribal water system will be expanded to meet potable water needs.

Akana’s design also accommodates future infrastructure improvements. Public underground easements have been established for fiber optic connections, and roof structures and electrical systems are designed to support future solar panel installation. These measures promote long-term sustainability and help reduce future living costs for residents.
