Pow Wow Grounds Master Plan – Reno-Sparks Indian Colony

Akana developed a master plan for the 20-acre Reno-Sparks Indian Colony Pow Wow Grounds to guide future improvements and long-term development. The plan envisions year-round amenities, including a pow wow arbor, expanded restrooms, a Hand Games Building/Multi-purpose room, permanent vendor booths, RV park, camping facilities, and a community gathering area.

As part of this effort, Akana provided comprehensive design services for site infrastructure, building layout, vehicular circulation and parking, pedestrian accommodations, site grading and stormwater management, and landscaping. The master plan establishes a framework for subsequent design phases, funding strategies, and construction activities.

Throughout the planning process, Akana worked closely with the Tribe’s project team to ensure the design reflects their vision, cultural priorities, and functional needs. This collaborative approach ensures that the Pow Wow Grounds will serve as a vibrant, accessible, and culturally significant space for generations to come.
