White Mountain Apache Tribal Healing to Wellness Court

Project Details

Akana is providing comprehensive professional services for the design and development of the White Mountain Apache Tribe’s Tribal Healing to Wellness Court, an approximately 4,887-square-foot facility. These courts are specialized spaces that integrate cultural traditions with modern treatment approaches to support healing and recovery for individuals and families impacted by substance use. The new facility will reflect the Tribe’s cultural values while meeting operational needs for court services and community wellness.

Akana’s responsibilities include architectural design and coordination of structural, civil, and MEP engineering, along with integration of site-specific drainage and landscape design. We are also assisting the Tribe’s Planning Department in identifying and selecting a qualified general contractor for the construction phase. The design emphasizes cultural motifs, appropriate materials, and functional layouts to ensure the facility supports its mission effectively.

Additional services include preparing detailed construction documents, supporting permitting and regulatory compliance, and providing consultation during bidding and negotiation. Akana continues to work closely with Tribal leadership throughout the project and will assist with architectural and engineering reviews during active construction to ensure quality and alignment with the Tribe’s vision.
